Hankook iON: A new global range of tires for electric vehicles supports sustainable mobility. From May 2022, premium tire manufacturer Hankook will introduce iON, its first range of tires specifically designed for electric vehicles, to the market. The characteristic feature of this new development is reduced rolling resistance, particularly low-noise rolling behavior and high durability. Compared to conventional tires, this means greater range on a single battery charge and a better driving experience for electric vehicle drivers. The new Hankook iON products are also specially designed for instant high torque in powerful electric vehicles. The new iON tires meet the demanding everyday requirements of electric vehicle tires (EV = Electric Vehicle) with a range of technical measures. In particular, Hankook compensates for the higher weights of electric vehicles caused by the significant weight of the power batteries by providing higher load capacity. Among other things, specially resistant aramid fibers effectively counteract deformation forces caused by particularly high torque in electric vehicles. The tread compound with a high proportion of natural resin also ensures excellent durability and reduced wear. Another special feature of the new compound is its high proportion of natural oils.
